Subscribe to PRO & Cancel
This guide walks through subscribing to 4league PRO and — just as importantly — how to manage or cancel it afterwards. The single most important thing to understand is that you manage your subscription wherever you bought it. 4league cannot cancel a subscription that was purchased through Apple or Google on your behalf. For a full breakdown of what each plan tier includes, see Payments & Packages.
Your purchase method — not your plan or your device — decides where you cancel. Subscribed on the web? Manage it in 4league via the Stripe billing portal. Subscribed in the iOS app? Cancel it in the App Store. Subscribed in the Android app? Cancel it in Google Play. The Manage subscription button inside the app sends you to the right place automatically.
Subscribing to PRO
You upgrade from Account > PRO plan. Open your profile, go to the PRO plan screen, pick a plan and billing period, and confirm. Payment is then handled by the processor for your platform:
| Where you subscribe | Processor | Subscription source |
|---|---|---|
| Web (any browser) | Stripe | stripe |
| iOS app | Apple App Store (via RevenueCat) | ios |
| Android app | Google Play (via RevenueCat) | android |
4league records the source of your subscription at purchase time. That source is what the app reads later to send you to the correct place to manage or cancel — so it matters where you first subscribe.
A free trial can be used once per account, ever. The first time you start a trial, 4league permanently flags your account as having had one. From then on you are shown the no-trial PRO offering and you will not be offered a trial again — even after you cancel and later re-subscribe, and even on a different platform. If you cancelled a previous PRO subscription and are surprised that there's no trial on offer, this is why: re-subscribing always charges from day one.
Managing & cancelling — by purchase method
From Account > PRO plan, tap Manage subscription. The app opens the correct destination based on where you subscribed. The three paths are below — find the one that matches how you originally paid.
Subscribed on the web (Stripe)
If your source is stripe, Manage subscription opens the Stripe billing portal at https://4league.app/account/billing. From there you can update your card, switch plan, view invoices, and cancel. This is the only path that is fully self-serve inside 4league.
Open Account > PRO plan
Tap Manage subscription, or go directly to 4league.app/account/billing in a browser.
Open the Stripe billing portal
4league creates a secure Stripe portal session for your account and redirects you to it.
Cancel or change
Choose Cancel plan (or update your card / switch plan). You'll return to 4league when you're done.
The portal only works for Stripe subscriptions. If your subscription was bought through Apple or Google, the request to open the portal returns no_portal_available — there is no Stripe customer to manage. That is expected, not a bug: it means you need to cancel in your device's store instead (see below). 4league cannot modify an Apple- or Google-managed subscription on your behalf.
Subscribed in the iOS app (App Store)
If your source is ios, the subscription is managed by Apple. Manage subscription opens https://apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
Open your App Store subscriptions
On your device: Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, or tap Manage subscription in 4league to jump straight there.
Select 4league
Tap the 4league entry in your list of active subscriptions.
Cancel subscription
Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. Apple processes the cancellation.
Subscribed in the Android app (Google Play)
If your source is android, the subscription is managed by Google. Manage subscription opens https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
Open Play Store subscriptions
In the Play Store app: Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, or tap Manage subscription in 4league.
Select 4league
Choose the 4league subscription.
Cancel subscription
Tap Cancel subscription and confirm. Google processes the cancellation.
An active Stripe subscription can't be transferred to the App Store or Play Store, and vice versa. To change processor you must cancel where you originally subscribed and start a new subscription on the other platform. Remember: starting again will not include a trial if you've already had one.
What happens after you cancel
Your access continues until the period ends
Cancelling does not revoke PRO immediately. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you've already paid for — its expiry date. Until that date you keep every PRO feature; after it, the account drops to Free. This is also why cancelling mid-period does not produce a refund — you keep what you paid for through to the end.
If you change your mind after cancelling but before the expiry date, you can simply re-enable the subscription where you cancelled it — your PRO access never lapsed, so nothing is lost. Cancelling during a trial reverts you to Free with no charge.
Co-admin seats are trimmed on downgrade
This is the gotcha most owners don't expect. When your PRO subscription expires (or is downgraded), 4league automatically enforces the Free-tier co-admin limits on every profile you own. Any active co-admin seats above the Free cap are removed — oldest seats are kept, the newest excess seats are dropped. The removed people lose their admin access to that profile, and it disappears from their list.
| Profile you own | Free co-admin seats kept | Excess removed on downgrade? |
|---|---|---|
| Team | 2 | Yes — seats beyond 2 are revoked |
| Competition | 2 | Yes — seats beyond 2 are revoked |
| Community / Friends Group | 3 | Yes — seats beyond 3 are revoked |
| Official organization (Federation / Association / Club) | No Free tier | Keeps 2 — but see note below |
Federation, Association, and Club organizations have no Free tier at all — they require PRO even to create. Because there's no defined Free co-admin cap for them, the downgrade cleanup falls back to keeping the 2 oldest seats. In practice the seats that actually get trimmed on a downgrade are the co-admins on your teams, competitions, and community groups — those are the profiles with a real Free cap. The organization itself stays fully viewable and editable by you after a downgrade (see Downgrade behavior in Payments & Packages); it's the surplus co-admin seats, not the organization, that are affected.
Once excess co-admin seats are revoked on downgrade, re-subscribing to PRO does not bring them back automatically. You'll need to re-invite those co-admins. Before you cancel, it's worth telling any co-admins above the Free cap that they may lose access at the period end.
An organizer on PRO runs a competition with himself plus 5 co-admins. When his subscription lapses in the off-season, the Free cap of 2 co-admins per competition kicks in: the 2 oldest co-admin seats are kept and the other 3 are removed, dropping the competition from those three people's lists. The competition and all its data stay intact and editable by the owner. When the new season starts he re-subscribes to PRO and re-invites the three co-admins he still needs.
