Generate a Poster
4league turns your competition, team and player data into polished, shareable graphics — posters. From the fixtures of an upcoming round, a single match's line-ups and score, the league table, group standings or the list of participating teams, through the top scorers, top assists and cards leaderboards, the overall competition statistics, and right down to a competition, team or player profile (including a player's stats inside one team or across a whole league) — you pick a template, brand it, and share it straight to social media or your team chat. This guide covers where posters live, who can make them, the templates and customization, and exactly how sharing differs between mobile and web.
Creating and previewing a poster is available on all three platforms. What differs is the final step: on mobile you save to your device gallery and open the native OS share sheet; on web you get a JPEG export (download) and the browser's Web Share dialog, with a copy/download fallback. The poster itself is built the same way everywhere.
Who Can Create a Poster
Posters are open to everyone. Any signed-in user — fan, player, team manager, referee or organizer — can open a Create Poster button (camera/poster icon, badged new) and generate a poster. What changes from person to person is not whether you can make one, but how much you can edit and how many you get per week:
- Organizers, co-admins and the profile's owner — for the data they manage — get the full editor: every template, custom backgrounds, accent colors, columns and sponsor logos.
- Everyone else (a fan sharing a table, a player sharing their own profile) gets a locked, 4league-branded poster — a single ready-made template with no editing controls. It still looks clean and carries your data; it just can't be re-styled.
- For player posters, full editing is reserved for the player's own profile; viewing someone else's profile gives the locked branded version.
Generating a poster draws from a weekly quota of 3 posters, enforced on 4league's servers and reset every Monday. The poster screen shows how many you have left, and switches to a "limit reached — back on Monday" message once you're out. A PRO subscription lifts the cap entirely (unlimited posters). Admins of a profile share one pooled allowance, so co-organizers don't multiply the count. See Payments & Packages for what PRO includes.
Where to Find Posters
There is no single "Posters" menu — you create a poster from whichever screen shows the data you want to picture. A Create Poster button (camera/poster icon, badged new) sits next to the relevant section:
-
1
The Matches tab (Competition). Generate posters for an upcoming matchday (all the fixtures of a round), the full fixture list, a single match (with line-ups and, once played, the score), the participating teams, or the group stage and playoff / playout draws.
-
2
The Standings tab. Generate posters for the league table, the group tables (all groups or one), and the playoff / playout standings.
-
3
The Statistics tab. Generate posters for the top scorers, top assists and cards (discipline) leaderboards, and for the overall competition statistics (totals such as goals, cards and matches played).
-
4
A competition, team or player profile. The profile header carries its own poster button — a competition profile, a team profile, or a player profile card. From a player you can also picture their stats: across a whole competition (league), inside a single team, or combined across every competition they've played.

Customize the Look
When you have the full editor (see Who Can Create a Poster), you can tailor a poster before sharing. A locked, branded poster skips this step — it ships in one ready-made style. The editor offers:
- Five templates. Switch between five distinct visual styles (Template 1–5) — each lays out the same data differently, from clean lists to bold, full-bleed match cards.
- Background. Pick from a library of built-in background images, or upload your own. Uploaded backgrounds are saved to your competition for re-use.
- Accent color. Choose from preset swatches or enter a custom hex value; the color drives template accents and contrast.
- Columns. Lay long lists out across one, two or three columns to keep a tall poster readable.
- Sponsors. Upload sponsor logos to display along the footer (the 4league logo also appears).
The built-in backgrounds are remote images served from 4league's content delivery network. On a slow connection the preview can take a few seconds to render fully, and a poster can briefly show a placeholder while images download. Wait for the preview to settle before exporting — the render is not instant. If a background fails to load you'll see a warning; pull to refresh or pick another background.
Share & Export
Two buttons sit at the bottom of the poster screen:
-
1
Share. Captures the poster as a JPEG and hands it to your platform's share flow — the native OS share sheet on mobile, or the browser's Web Share dialog on web.
-
2
Export. Saves the JPEG to your device — into a folder you choose on Android, and as a file download on web.
Under the hood the capture method differs per platform, but the result — a high-quality JPEG of exactly what you previewed — is the same:
| iOS / Android | Web | |
|---|---|---|
| Create & preview | Yes | Yes |
| Share | Native OS share sheet (any installed app). | Web Share dialog if the browser supports it; otherwise the image is offered as a download / copy link. |
| Save to device | Save to the device (choose a folder on Android). | Downloads as 4league-poster.jpg. |
On web, remote background and logo images are pulled through 4league's image proxy (/api/image-proxy) before capture. This avoids the browser security restrictions that would otherwise leave a downloaded poster with blank or missing artwork — what you see in the preview is what lands in the file.
Link Previews Are Automatic (and Not Configurable)
Matchday posters are something you make and share. They are separate from the small preview image that appears when someone pastes a 4league competition or team link into a chat or social post. Those Open Graph (OG) preview images are generated automatically on 4league's servers:
/og-image/competition/:id— the competition's logo over a branded blue gradient, with the competition name and parent organization./og-image/team/:id— the team's logo on the same branded backdrop, with its win / draw / loss / goals tally.
They're rendered server-side (with sharp), cached, and fall back to a default branded image if a logo can't be loaded. There is no setting to customize them — they update on their own as your logo and stats change. Only competitions/teams that are real, public and not in demo mode get an OG image; hidden, demo and expired ones return a generic preview.
