Create a Friendly Match

A friendly is the one match in 4league with an invite→accept step. One team manager invites another team to play; the opponent’s manager accepts the invite from their Messages screen, and that acceptance is what creates the match. You set it up from the Matches tab of your team profile, so this guide lives in both the team and competition contexts. This page covers who can invite, sending the invite, accepting it, and what happens to the score afterward.

ℹ️
This is a match invite, not score confirmation

Accepting a friendly invite agrees to play the match — it brings the fixture into existence. It is not a score-confirmation or dispute step. Once the match exists, the score is entered afterward and counts immediately, exactly like any other match in 4league. There is no second “accept the result” handshake — see Scores Are Final on Save.

Who Can Invite a Team

Friendly matches are set up from the team side, not from inside a competition table. A team manager opens their own team’s Matches tab and adds a match against another team. Because the match is created against an opponent team rather than a league schedule, the only consent that matters is the opponent’s — which is exactly what the invite→accept step provides.

Who What they do
Inviting team’s manager Creates the match from their team’s Matches tab — picks the opponent, date and format, and sends the invite.
Opponent team’s manager Receives the invite in Messages and accepts (or declines) it. Acceptance creates the match for both teams.

Invite an Opponent Team

1

Open Add Match on your team

From your team profile, go to the Matches tab and choose Add a match. This is a team-context action — your team is the home side.

2

Search for the opponent

Tap Search for an opponent and pick the team you want to play. This is the team that will receive the invite.

3

Set the date, pitch and format

Choose a date, optionally a pitch / location, the match type (how many players per side) and the max players. None of the optional fields block the invite — only the opponent is required.

4

Save to send the invite

Tap Save. 4league records the proposed match and delivers an invite message to the opponent team’s manager. The match isn’t live yet — it’s waiting on their acceptance.

Accept the Match Invite

The opponent’s manager finds the invite in their Messages screen as a friendly-match invitation, with two choices:

1

Open Messages

The invite arrives as a message item showing the proposed opponent, date and format.

2

Tap OK to accept — or No to decline

Choosing OK accepts the invite and creates the match; it now appears in both teams’ match lists. Choosing No declines it, and no match is created.

ℹ️
Acceptance creates the fixture — nothing more

The accept step exists only because a friendly needs two teams to agree to meet. It settles that the match will be played — not its result. After acceptance the match behaves like every other fixture: whoever scores it enters the result and it lands on the table straight away. There is no per-event or per-score approval from the other team.

After Accept: The Score Counts Normally

Once the invite is accepted, the friendly is a normal match. You enter the score — or run it as a live match with the timer and events — just like a league or cup fixture, and it counts the moment you save. There is no dispute window and no second confirmation from the opponent.

Scenario: Two Clubs Arrange a Pre-Season Friendly

City’s manager opens their team’s Matches tab, searches for Rovers, sets Saturday’s date and a 7-a-side format, and saves. Rovers’ manager sees the invite in Messages and taps OK — the match is created and shows up for both clubs. On match day City’s manager enters the final score; it counts immediately, with no “confirm result” step coming back from Rovers.
